What is the difference between Untouched, Retouched and Edited photos?
UNTOUCHED - Traditional Portraiture
Often referred to as "proofs." Fast, easy, and affordable. Basic white balance & exposure correction. Black & white also available.
RETOUCHED - Standard Glamour
Modern glamour retouching. Includes skin, make-up, & hair touch ups, figure contouring, teeth whitening, etc. This is by far the most popular of the 3 options.
Every photo you see in a magazine or a print ad has been retouched in this manner. Highly reccommended for high-end, polished, professional looking portraits.
EDITED - Special FX
High quality photo-manipulation, tone adjustments, high-dynamic-range effects, clothing color changes, removal of foreground or background elements, the addition of stock photos and/or graphic design, greenscreen-style background replacement, and more.
Includes basic white balance & exposure correction, skin, make-up, & hair touch ups, figure contouring, teeth whitening, etc., glamour retouching techniques
Rendered in the highest possible resolution for prints up to and over 4 feet wide.
When you're looking for quality over quantity, and images that will make a lasting impression, this is the way to go.
Do you provide hair/make-up artists or clothes for shoots?
I typically do not use a makeup artist. Usually the model does his/her own makeup (or it was done for them beforehand) before most of my photo sessions. Here are some Make-up tips.
If you are interested in hiring a makeup artist or hair stylist for your shoot, I will be happy to make some personal recommendations.
If you choose retouching or editing for your shots, I will do my best to make corrections during post-process as necessary to make sure you look your best.
Clothes?? You will provide your own stylish clothing and accessories. Bring a selections of footwear, hats, scarves, furs, jackets and jewellery to add flair to your shoot!
Who owns the copyright to the photos after the shoot?
For personal/non-commercial shoots, the copyright stays with the photographer unless a copyright release is filled out. The client is granted a Public Display Right which means you have every right to display the photos on the web, Facebook, blogs, message forums, etc..
You may display the prints wherever you want as long as it's not for commercial use with a credit to ChadPaynePhotos.com.
In accordance with copyright law, when prints must be ordered through the photographer unless a copyright release form is signed, transferring the copyright from photographer to client. This is typically not done and is an unnecessary expense unless the photos are being used commercially.
If you're interested in obtaining the copyright to your photos (ie: for stock, commercial use, print use, etc.), a realease can be provided on a per photo basis.
